Odisha Panchayat Elections: Pre-Poll Violence In Puri, Ganjam
Puri/Ganjam: A Zilla Parishad candidate of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was injured after being attacked by supporters of the opposition party in Puri district on late Monday night.
Reportedly, the victim Dharanidhar Sahu is contesting from Zilla Parishad Zone 24. He had visited Potal village in Pipili block of the district yesterday when he was attacked by his opposition.
Pre-poll violence was also reported from Basudevpur in Digapahandi block of Ganjam district yesterday.
At least seven people including two women were injured in the clash. Identified as K Kishore Kumar, Kalia Sethi, K Shibaram, Landa Mallik, Dibyasingha Reddy, B Puni Reddy and A Gauru, all of those injured in the incident have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
