Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Department (STD) and Odisha Police are all set to trap the violators of the prevalent MV Act as biker as well as the pillion rider are bound down to wear helmets with the new dawn of New Year-2021.
Violators will cough up hefty penalties in terms of money as well as suspension of Driving License (DL) for a period of three months.
On December 5, State transport authority (STA) said that driving licence will be suspended if both the rider and pillion do not wear helmets.
“As per Section 194 D of the Motor Vehicles Act, whoever drives a motorcycle or causes or allows a motorcycle to be driven in contravention of the provision of Section 129 or the rules and regulation made thereunder shall be punishable with a fine of Rs 1000 and he/she shall be disqualified for holding a license for a period of three months.”
