Bhubaneswar: Coastal and marine police in Odisha have been alerted about potential infiltration by Bangladeshi nationals due to political unrest in Bangladesh. DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi has instructed increased vigilance in seven coastal districts, particularly Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara. Patrolling activities will intensify to five nautical miles.
Sarangi said, “We have directed all the coastal districts and marine police stations to remain alert to prevent entry of illegal immigrants into our territory. There are 18 police stations in the seven coastal districts. Of the 18 police stations, nine marine police stations are in Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara. As these three districts are close to Bangladesh, they have been asked to remain very alert. Moreover, the marine police stations in these districts have been provided with more manpower to keep an eye on the situation.”
Odisha government issued a high alert and asked all the superintendents of police (SP), especially of coastal districts to check the entry routes along the sea coast. A 24*7 control room has also been opened in the office of the ADG and coastal security.
