Odisha Health Dept Orders No Vaccination On Weekend Shutdown, Timely 2nd Dose To Beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Health Department on Thursday rescheduled the COVID-19 vaccination across the state in view of the weekend shutdown beginning April 24.

In a letter to all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, and CDM & PHOs, the Additional Chief Secretary (Health), PK Mohapatra said that “In view of the weekend shutdowns on Saturday and Sunday in all urban areas of the state, it has been decided to conduct vaccination from Monday to Friday including Gazetted Holidays every week till further orders.”

“There must not be any session on Saturday and Sunday and all the CVCs must be sanitized properly during weekend to reduce transmission of coronavirus infection,” the order of health and family welfare said. 

In another order, the Health ACS directed the district officials to ensure timely vaccination of second dose of coronavirus as per the schedule so that the beneficiaries can be protected better.

ACS Mohapatra stated that timely completion of 2nd dose schedule is of paramount importance to ensure protection of the vulnerable section of the population against coronavirus and reduce hospitalization and mortality.
