Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has implemented a multi-sectoral and coordinated strategy for tackling COVID-19. An important element of this approach has enhancing awareness in the community on measures to protect against COVID- 19 and its impact. In this regard, a set of four short animated videos focusing on maintaining health, nutrition, and harmony during COVID-19 were launched by Mr. P.K Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Government of Odisha on Wednesday.
The videos also celebrate ‘COVID-19 Warriors’ such as doctors, nurses, sanitation workers, frontline workers and police personnel among others who are working tirelessly to ensure our safety during the crisis.
The videos have been developed in collaboration with the World Food Programme. WFP has been supporting the efforts of the Government of Odisha to address food and nutrition security across several departments and food-based safety nets over the past several decades.
The virtual launch was also attended by Mr. Bishow Parajuli, Country Director, UNWEFP.
Mr. Parajuli in his opening address thanked Mr. Mohapatra for the continued support of the Government of Odisha to WFP while highlighting the idea behind the short videos and their essence.
The ACS Health reiterated the longstanding collaboration between the Government of Odisha & UNWFP and appreciated WFP’s continued efforts during the COVID-19 crisis.
Describing WFP as the first responder among UN agencies to any crisis worldwide, he hoped that the content-rich, appropriately customized to Odisha context and easy to understand video-messages reaches every single household in Odisha.
The State government is committed to enable the dissemination of videos in Government networks and social media channels.
