As per the STA, the learner’s license which had expired since March 18, 2020, or would expire by December 31, 2020 will be treated as valid till March 31, next year. With this, the LL holder can apply for DL.

In a tweet, the STA stated that the government of India had issued an advisory on August 28 regarding the extension of validity of fitness, permit (all types), registration certificate and driving license till December 31, 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Accordingly, the State Transport Authority had extended the validity of the crucial documents including fitness, permit, registration certificate and driving license till December 31, 2020.

Though a lot of people were granted learner’s license, they could not apply for the driving license as the driving license test was cancelled from March 18, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The Driving license test was cancelled from March 18 and subsequently slot quota was opened with less strength at Regional Transport Offices due COVID-19. For such reasons, persons holding learner’s license could not apply online for final Driving License due to non-availability of slots in SARATHI application, tweeted STA.
