Odisha Govt Extends Lockdown Till June 1

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday extended the lockdown in the State till June 1. The announcement was made by Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra today.

While the timing of buying vegetables has been reduced, the number of people at weddings has also been decreased from 50 to 25 under the revised guidelines for the lockdown issued today. However, COVID-19 vaccination across the state will continue during the period, said the Chief Secretary.

Earlier, the lockdown was placed in the state from May 5 to 19.

Odisha has been reporting 10,000 to 12,000 new positive cases daily for the past several days. Khurda district, of which Bhubaneswar is a part, has the highest positivity rate of 37.5%.
