Odisha Govt Ensures Uninterrupted Sale Of Milk During Janta Curfew, Lockdown Period

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Fisheries & ARD department has asked dairy plant managers and milk unions to liaison with police authorities for the uninterrupted sale of milk & essential milk products during Janta Curfew & lockdown period in view of COVID-19.

All OMFED milk booths, OMFED retailers, markets and shopping complexes are allowed to sell milk and milk products uninterruptedly, based on the market demands since these are essential items for daily needs, a notification from the Fisheries & ARD department stated.

Further, the concerned dairy plant managers and milk unions should liaison with the Police authorities to ensure that vehicles transporting milk and milk products are not detained, it said.

However, milk booths have been allowed to sell only milk and milk products. They have been asked not to sell any other non-essential items nor operate coffee shops or eateries so as to prevent people from congregating.

Notably, the State Government in GA&PG Department has imposed temporary restrictions to minimize and contain the spread of COVID-19 in the interest of public health.
