Odisha govt asks truant doctors to join COVID duty or face action

Bhubaneswar: Doctors posted for management of COVID-19 duty at different districts of the state have been directed by the Odisha government to join immediately or face action.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) has said that doctors temporarily posted for management of coronavirus duty in different districts are not joining to their place of deployment thus putting hardship in the part of district administration in its preparedness and fight against the deadly disease.

The order said those who have been issued deployment order under different CDM&PHO are directed to join their place of deployment immediately in public interest, failing which action as deemed proper under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 7 of Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct. Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 will be taken.

As per section 65 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the State Authority or District Authority or any officer as may be authorized, may, by order in writing, requisition such resources, persons, needed for the purpose of the rescue operation. The present coronavirus pandemic has been declared a National disaster.
