Bhubaneswar: In the latest development, the Odisha Government has annulled the auction process of 20 mining leases initiated through Notice Inviting Tenders (NITs) earlier.
Besides this, the state government has also directed the Director of Mines to begin the process for fresh auction of the leases from December 6 this year.
Reportedly, Odisha invited bids for 20 iron ore and manganese mines in the state through notifications dated October 4, 14 and 18.
The state had failed to auction a single mining block in the financial year 2018-19 due to legal issues. Following this, the steel and mines department has planned to sell maximum blocks this fiscal.
The State government hopes to complete the process by February 2020.
