Bhubaneswar: Odisha Energy Minister Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, today reviewed the progress of ongoing restoration work in Cyclone Yaas-affected areas of Balasore district.
While reviewing the progress of the work, Minister DS Mishra appreciated the efforts made by TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd (TPNODL) for quick supply restoration to all affected consumers.
He congratulated the Principal Secretary, Energy, senior officers of GRIDCO, OPTCL, and DISCOMs for their meticulous planning, due to which power supply was restored within minimum possible time and zero casualty was ensured on account of electrical restoration work even during the COVID-19 pandemic and the State was under lock-down.
Mishra advised completing power distribution rectification & system strengthening works prior to the rainy season. TPNODL to make use of new 33/11 sub-stations constructed under the ODSSP scheme and provide N-1 supply to District headquarters and towns under Balasore District. All medical units are to be focused on an uninterrupted power supply. Underground cabling is to be adopted in order to maintain reliability across Utility. Timely maintenance of the PSS and lines should be done and steps to be taken to minimize the 11KV feeder length. DISCOMs to coordinate with District Administration to get the necessary support for resolving the RoW issues. Public grievances must be addressed on priority. DISCOMs can take the help of local representatives in resolving such grievances. Contractors or vendors whose performances are not up to their satisfaction are to be reviewed regularly and necessary action may be initiated. All Govt. funded schemes are to compete within due time to benefit the people of the State.
Department/offices should also post regular updates on social media so that people can be informed of the Departmental activities and the gap between the people and Govt. will be minimized. Electrical infrastructures in tribal populated areas under Balasore District like Raibania are to be strengthened. Special attention to be given to Jaleswar, as it is more prone to cyclone and flood disasters. GRID sub-station under Chandipur is to be charged with immediate effect for providing better power supply to the public.
Principal Secretary, Energy stated that the presence of the Hon’ble Minister on the ground was very supportive to the new DISCOM management. This ensured effective implementation of the Department’s planning.
The Odisha Energy Minister advised for clearing the payments of all Business Associates and work-men expeditiously, who worked hard with the DISCOMs during disasters. DISCOMs to document the cyclone management activities through documentaries and organize felicitation programme to boost the morale of employees & associates. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Department to Hon’ble Chief Minister for his guidance and support.
