Odisha dispatches over 1200 MT of medical oxygen to seven needy states

Cuttack: Odisha government has dispatched 1267.931 MT of medical oxygen to seven needy states which are currently facing the onslaught of deadly coronavirus.

ADG Yashwant Kumar Jethwa told reporters here on Monday that 67 tankers were pressed into service for dispatching the contingent most vital for the survival of patients affected with coronavirus.

Jethwa said Andhra Pradesh tops the list of getting 458.3 MT of life saving oxygen by 22 tankers. The ADG said Telangana has received 17 tankers while Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have got 17, 6, 8, 8, 4 and 2 respectively.

He told the press conference that 22 flying squads have been formed for checking oxygen, medicine and Covid items and added that seven squads are set aside exclusively for Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Drug Controller, STF and Odisha Police personnel have been included in the flying squad.

Jethwa said police have already warned 20 hospitals and agencies for not indulging in any irregularity and added that the violators will be punished under IPC and Drugs Control Act.
