Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Abhay has urged people to adhere to COVID norms to check the spread of the deadly disease.
DGP Abhay, who toured Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bhadrak, & Balasore districts recently, said many people are following COVID protocols, but those who are not following the norms are advised to do so for the good of the society.
The Odisha DGP further urged people to stay indoors during night curfew and weekend shutdown, wearing face masks and maintaining social distance.
Abhay regretted that they do not get professional satisfaction by penalising general public for violation of coronavirus guidelines and added that they take action as the situation is grim.
The DGP said Odisha police have collected fines from 1.5 lakh persons amounting to Rs 5.24 crore for not wearing masks. The police have collected nearly Rs 40,000 for not adhering to social distancing guidelines, he added.
He said 350 institutions were sealed and 418 arrested for not adhering to coronavirus guidelines. Police have also seized over 18000 vehicles relating to flouting of norms.
