Odisha DGP directs Twin City police to ensure safety of health workers
Cuttack: Odisha DGP Abhay has directed all SsP and DCsP of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to ensure the safety and security of doctors and other health workers.
The DGP’s instruction has come after a few instances of misbehavior and manhandling of doctors, medical staff and health workers surfaced in the state.
DGP Abhay said the doctors and health workers play a very important role in the fight against deadly coronavirus and added that they are in the first line fighters in this decisive war against COVID-19.
Stating that their safety and security are of paramount importance, the Odisha DGP said that stringent action will be taken against the persons who are involved in assaulting, misbehaving and manhandling of doctors and health workers while on duty.
The SsP/DCsP were advised to take up prompt investigation on the matter after lodging of FIR against the culprits. It has been also decided to appoint a DSP or above-ranked officer to supervise the case and submit the Charge Sheet and Final Form within a month.
