Malkangiri: The Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay visited Motu in the ‘Swabhiman Anchal’ of Malkangiri district to take stock of border security arrangements.
Reportedly, the DGP along with the Intelligence department, RK Sharma, and IG of Police (Personnel), S Praveen Kumar reached the BSF Camp at MV 88 and conducted a review meeting with the officials after inaugurating a new outpost here.
He also held discussions with Police and Senior BSF officials regarding the facilities for the migrants returning to the State in view of the COVID-19 surge.
The Odisha DGP has also appealed to the Maoists, specifically who are infected with Covid-19, to surrender and join the mainstream. The state government will look after the treatment & other facilities and no cases will be registered against them.
Notably, Malkangiri SP Rishikesh Khilarid, SDPO Anshuman Dwivedi were also present in the drive.
A hardcore Maoist couple had recently surrendered before the Chattisgarh Police. However, no Maoist cadres have laid down their arms in Odisha so far even after repeated appeals from the police department.
