New Delhi: Odisha Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday reached New Delhi on a three-day visit. The chief minister attended a sports award function and felicitated the women’s hockey team on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the chief minister highlighted his government’s efforts in promoting sports. Odisha is the sponsor of national men’s and women’s hockey teams till 2033.
Patnaik will meet with the Union government to follow up with pending state related issues.
“I’m in Delhi to attend the Sports Conference, mainly due to what Odisha has been doing for Hockey nationally. Tomorrow I will be visiting Parliament and also having a meeting to follow up on various issues of Odisha which are pending with the Central Government,” Patnaik said in Delhi on Monday.
Naveen ia also scheduled to visit the central hall to meet some of the Union ministers to discuss pending issues related to state’s interests, though the detail programme is yet to be finalised.
Naveen’s visit to the national capital also assumes significance in view of the forthcoming presidential election, due in July.
