Odisha CM Releases House Repair Assistance To Rural Housing Beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today released house repair assistance to beneficiaries of the Rural Housing Scheme. A total of Rs 1,444 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 31 lakh households in the state. Rs 3,000 rupees has been provided to each beneficiary for house repair.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that Odisha is the only state where the housing scheme beneficiaries are being provided with financial assistance for repairing the houses.

Highlighting the lack of housing for the people under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, the Odisha Chief Minister said that many houses were destroyed in 14 districts of the state during Cyclone Fani.

People are still waiting to get pucca house from the centre’s scheme, and I have also been bringing the matter to the attention of the Center, he said.

In addition, our tribal brothers and sisters from South and West Odisha are also looking forward to getting a house in the central scheme. The state government has decided to pay Rs 5,000 to repair the dilapidated house they are currently living in. “We are collecting the information of their bank accounts and they will be receiving the assistance soon,” said the Odisha CM.

During the Corona pandemic, 12.25 lakh families were eligible for housing under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme (Rural) but they are yet to receive the houses. Therefore, the state government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 5,000 from the Biju Pucca Ghar scheme for the repair of the houses where the families are now living.
