Odisha CM, Pralhad Joshi jointly inaugurate mining activity in Guali, Langlota

Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister for Parliamentary affairs and Coal Prahllad Joshi have jointly inaugurated mining activities in Guali and Jiling Langlota iron ore mines.

Patnaik said excavation of minerals from these mines will meet the shortfall of iron ore in the state and added that it will help balance  the supply side. He said his government has been taking a number of steps in the mining sector and added the auction process of the mines have been done successfully.

The CM said the state has acquired importance in iron ore and aluminium production and added that joint efforts by the state and the Centre to boost production and streamlisation  of the mining sector will impact upon production of minerals.

Patnaik thanked the Union Minister for providing  cooperation for effective distribution of OMC mines. Joshi said Odisha is mineral rich and added that the cooperation between the state and the Centre must go on for efficient management of mining sector.

The Union Minister said production in these mines will meet the growing demand of iron ore in the industrial sector.

Odisha Minister for Mines Prafulla Mallick thanked the CM and Union Minister for helping to start production in Guali and Jiling Langlota mines.

The programme was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Ashwini Baishnab, Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Development Commissioner PK Jena and Finance Secretary Ashok Kumar Meena. The programme was coordinated by CM’s 5T Secretary V K Pandian.

The OMC Chairman Surendra Kumar delivered the welcome address. OMC Managing Director Balwant Singh proposed the vote of thanks.

These mines are expected to produce 12 MT iron ore annually.
