Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: On the occasion of Kisan Diwas, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday extended his best wishes to all the farmers of the nation.

The Odisha CM also paid tributes to the former Prime Minister Choudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary.

Patnaik took to his Twitter handle and acknowledged significance and contribution of farmers towards the survival of the human race.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also remembered Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary for his work to empower the marginalised.

Kisan Diwas is the annual celebration of Indian farmers and is observed on December 23 across the country.

This observance falls on the birth anniversary of India’s fifth Prime Minister, Choudhary Charan Singh. This date was chosen for this important celebration as Choudhary Charan Singh was one of the pioneers to focus on Indian villages as a whole, and paved the way for revolutionary land reform laws.
