Odisha CM Expresses Grief On Demise Of Veteran Actor Atal Bihari Panda

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday expressed grief on the demise of Veteran actor and ‘Sala Budha’ fame Atal Bihari Panda.

Panda, who is known for his works in Sambalpuri films, was undergoing treatment at VIMSAR, Burla for septicemia. He breathed his last at around 3.45 AM today, informed his son Arun Panda.

Panda, who hails from Binika village in Sonepur district of Odisha, is known for his roles in ‘Sala Budha’ and ‘Aadim Vichar’. He had bagged the ‘Best Actor Award’ for the film ‘Sala Budha’ at the 25th State Film Awards and ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Dialogue Writer’ for ‘Aadim Vichar’ at the 26th State Film Awards.

He began his acting journey with the film ‘Sala Budha’ at the age of 83. Prior to it, he was written over 60 dramas, both in Odia and Koshali language. He had been conferred with honorary D Litt degree during the 30th convocation of Sambalpur University.
