Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared State-level mourning tomorrow (Wednesday) over the demise of Odisha’s acclaimed classical singer Sunanda Patnaik.
Guruma Sunanda Patnaik Chair will be established in her memory at Odisha Culture University, a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated.
As per the press note, a State-level mourning will be observed at Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra Odissi Research Centre tomorrow (Wednesday). Besides, and an award named ‘Sunanda Samman’ will be given away to noted and successful singers every year in her memory.
The items and musical instruments used by Late Dr Sunanda Patnaik will be put on display at a gallery in Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. For this purpose, a formal request has been sent to the family members of the acclaimed singer.
Besides, the State Government has decided to celebrate ‘Sunanda Patnaik Jayanti’ every year in her memory at Guru Kelucharan Odissi Research Centre, the release further added.
