Bhubaneswar: While a flood situation is bracing the Mahanadi river basin and several other rivers in Odisha have swollen following week-long heavy rainfall activities in the state as well as in Chhattisgarh, the governments of both the neighbouring states are set to meet today for high-level talks on chalking out strategies for river water sharing.
According to sources, the Chief Secretaries of Odisha and Chhattisgarh will meet through video conferencing at 4 pm today to hold discussions on sharing of Mahanadi water which has become a bone of contention between both the states.
Following incessant rain in last couple of days and opening 34 sluice gates at Hirakud reservoir, flood like situation has emerged in Mahanadi river system.
