Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal has clarified that he is not in the running for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election.
Speaking to the media, Samal stated that the decision on the party’s nominee will rest with the BJP parliamentary board.
According to Samal, the party parliament board will decide the candidate for Rajya Sabha election. He further said that whatever discussion is doing the round about his possibility to be selected from the party for the Rajya Sabha election is fictitious and the party parliament board will take a formal decision in this regard soon.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled the by-election for December 20 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of BJD MP Sasmit Patra. The BJP, which is gearing up for the 2024 general elections, is expected to field a candidate with strong credentials to make an impact in Odisha’s political landscape.
The announcement comes amidst internal party deliberations, as the BJP aims to strengthen its presence in the state. Further details about the party’s nominee are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
