Bhubaneswar: The winter session of the Odisha Assembly began today with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi moving a condolence motion in the House.
The session, which will run until December 31, started with a solemn note as members paid tribute to several notable figures who passed away recently.
Chief Minister Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is set to present the Supplementary Budget for the financial year 2024-25 on the first day of the session. The Appropriation Bill will be tabled on December 5, with discussions on demands for grants scheduled from December 2 to 4.
The session is expected to be a platform for intense debates, with the opposition parties gearing up to raise issues such as unemployment, rising prices of essential commodities, and the law and order situation in the state.
