Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro on Tuesday adjourned the House till Wednesday as the stalemate continued and no solution could be found in the all-party meet.

Patro convened the all-party meet twice in the session but to no avail. The pandemonium disrupted the question hour and the zero hour.

The all-party meet was attended by Pradipta Nayak, Congress legislative party leader Narasingha Mishra, parliamentary affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, finance minister Niranjan Pujari, Agriculture minister Arun Sahoo, government chief whip Pramila Nayak, deputy leader of the Opposition Bishu Charan Sethi, MLA Laxam Munda, Pranab Das, Opposition deputy chief whip Mohan Majhi and Tara Prasad Bahinipati.

The heat of the assembly over different issues like paddy procurement and tendering of apologies by the BJP MLA Subas Panigrahi was also seen outside the House. The Opposition leader Pradipta Nayak said MLA Subas Panigrahi will not tender apologies. He said the government must concentrate on the discussion about paddy procurement and added the treasury benches must remain adamant over Panigrahi issue.

The Congress MLAs said they did not participate in the discussion as the BJD members remained adamant on Subash Panigrahi issue instead of discussing on paddy procurement issue of the farmers.

Government Chief Whip Pramila Nayak said Subash Panigrahi has to tender an apology as his abortive suicide bid inside the House has tarnished its image.

Issues like forest fire, dry river bed and water level going down to rock bottom level could not be discussed as everything was overwhelmed in the din created by the members.
