Odisha Assembly adjourned till tomorrow
Bhubaneswar: The second day of the budget session of Odisha Assembly was adjourned till tomorrow following pandemonium by the opposition Congress and BJP members.
Earlier, the Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat had adjourned the session twice; first for one hour till 11.40 am and later till 3 pm. However, as soon as the house reassembled at 3 pm, the unruly situation again prevailed and the Speaker had to adjourn the house for the day.
The second day of the Odisha Assembly’s Budget session began with an obituary reference to former minister Harihar Karan, who passed away on Monday. Soon after that, the opposition Congress and BJP members rushed to the Well of the House, shouting slogans against the incumbent government.
While the Congress MLAs urged the Speaker to cancel the Question Hour to allow a discussion on various issues faced by farmers, the BJP members demanded a discussion on the status of chit fund scam probe in the state.
Unable to run the proceedings, Speaker PK Amat adjourned the House, first for one hour till 11.40 am then till 3 pm and later for the day.
