Odisha: ADJ Court Rejects Maoist Leader Sabyasachi Panda’s Bail Plea
Gunupur: Additional District Judge (ADJ) court here on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda.
Panda had applied for bail in five cases along with another case he had transferred from Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate court to ADJ court here.
In the year 2019, Sabyasachi was sentenced to undergo life imprisonment under Section 121 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The most wanted Maoist Sabyasachi Panda was arrested from a house at Mangalavaram Peta under Badabazar police station limits of Berhampur on July 17, 2014. A revolver, cash worth Rs 2,11,000 and 800 gram gold ornaments were seized from his possession.
Sabyasachi, who carried a reward of Rs five lakh on his head, was active in the Maoist movement for more than two decades.
The top Maoist was operating in Southern Odisha including the districts of Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Nayagarh.
Sabyasachi was involved in numerous sensational cases like the Nayagarh and R Udayagiri armoury loot, killing of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, abduction of two Italian nationals and blowing up of ambulance in Kandhamal besides, overall involvement in killing of 25 security personnel and 34 civilians.
