Odia rapper Big Deal to be seen on MTV Hustle stage

Mumbai: Odia rapper Samir Rishu Mohanty, who goes by the moniker ‘Big Deal’, will soon be seen on the stage of MTV India’s show MTV Hustle.

The artist will be seen along with various other rappers representing their respective states.

Five of India’s best rappers are geared up to be the next rap sensation. The top five contestants are: Santhanam Srinivasan Iyer – EPR, Arpan Kumar – King Rocco, Deepak Singh, M-Zee-Bella, Rahul Karn – Shloka and Rohit Kumar – RCR.

While the rapper teased his fans with few backstage pictures earlier, he wrote about his performance in the latest post on his Instagram handle. In the caption of the picture, Big Deal wrote, “Prathama Odia Rap on National Television coming soon.”

Big Deal continues to create ripples in the Indian music industry and continues to create meaningful and much needed socially conscious music that questions various injustices faced by the oppressed in our society and continues to criticise the power hierarchies that exist in our country boldly and with a hint of rebelliousness.

Born to a Japanese mother and an Odia father, Mohanty, the first Odia rapper shook the Odia rap scene with his very first Odia rap song ‘Mu Heli Odia’.

‘Mu Heli Odia’ is not only Samir’s first Odia rap song, but is also a first for Odisha too.
