Odia Couple Among 8 Killed In Secunderabad Fire Mishap

Bhubaneswar: An Odia couple from Odisha’s Cuttack is among eight, who were killed in a fire mishap, that broke out at an e-bike showroom and the hotel in Secunderabad on Monday night.

The couple has been identified as Chandan Jethi and his wife Mitali Mohapatra Jethi of Kafla Bazaar in Cuttack.

The duo had went to Hyderabad to attend a training programme and were staying in the lodge located in the same building where the fire mishap occurred.

According to reports, the husband and wife had got married a year ago and were previously residing in Bengaluru.

Worth mentioning, as many as three persons died on the spot due to acute asphyxiation caused by heavy smoke that spread to the entire building following the fire incident.

Later, five more succumbed to their burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the health facility.

All eight bodies were identified and post-mortem examinations were carried out at the Gandhi Medical Hospital on Tuesday. Nearly 10 others injured in the accident have been admitted at various private hospitals for treatment.
