Odia Cancer Patient’s Body Reaches Home Under Odisha Mo Parivar Initiative


Bhubaneswar: The body of a cancer patient who died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai was returned to her home town under Odisha Mo Parivar initiative.

According to sources, a Cervical Cancer patient named  Kasturi Mishra (51) wife of Khirod Chandra Mishra, resident of Kansbahal in Sundargarh district had been to the Tata Memorial Hospital for treatment. After the respective treatment and while returning to Odisha, she collapsed at the Mumbai airport.

The patient was taken to Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri but she breathed her last while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The family members of the deceased were not allowed to board the flight without proper NOC and Death Certificate.

The matter was then referred to Mo-Parivar by Sunita Biswal and she had a talk to the Convenor of Mo Parivar Arup Patnaik. Patnaik then instructed Rakesh Sharma, Ex Addl SP, Mumbai and Gaurav Mane from Konark Cancer Foundation, Mumbai to look into the matter and do the needful.

After the study of the case history of the deceased, the hospital then forwarded the matter to the Tata Memorial Hospital and after all the required verifications a death certificate was issued to the family members.

The representatives of the Konark Cancer Foundation, Mumbai then facilitated the certification procedure with Mumbai Police and after all the documentation work the body is returning to Bhubaneswar Airport today at 12:30 PM.

Then under the instructions of CM Naveen Patnaik and mentor of Odisha — Mo Parivar, the body will further be taken to her native place in Sundergarh district by an ambulance from Bhubaneswar airport.
