Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Civil Service (OCS) aspirants can opt Odia as a medium of writing in the examination as the State government has decided to introduce the mother tongue in the question papers.
The Public Administration department has written to the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to prepare question papers in both English and Odia.
Candidates and various organizations had been demanding introduction of Odia language in state civil service exams. The decision was taken following a proposal by the Institute of Odia Studies and Research (OSRC), sources said.
The candidates who are going to attend the preliminary test scheduled for October 16 can opt Odia for writing the papers.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts IAS examinations in various languages.
