Obscene post on FB: Chhattisgarh police arrests Odisha bureaucrat’s son


Bhubaneswar: The Chhattisgarh police have arrested the son of a top bureaucrat of Odisha for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile of a girl and uploading obscene comments and morphed images on the social media platform.

Khuswant Naik, son of Meghanad Naik, additional secretary (Home) of Odisha, was brought to Raipur Friday on a transit remand.

Reportedly, he was arrested under the Information Technology Act following a complaint lodged by a Raipur-based girl alleging that a fake profile was created on her name and obscene contents were being posted through her FB account.

According to police, Khuswant, an engineering student created the fake account on the girl’s name some months later when she befriended him on the social networking site.

The Raipur police took assistance of the cyber crime cell and traced the IP address of the originating source from which the fake profile was created.

He was taken into custody from his home under the Section 67 of the IT Act (posting obscene material in electronic form), the police said.
