Bhubaneswar: OBCC Additional Chief Engineer of Cuttack (Roads and Housing) Circle Pradeep Kumar Rath has been suspended on charges of corruption and amassing disproportionate assets.
Mr Rath was arrested on 6th August 2024 by the Odisha Vigilance on charges of amassing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 10 crore. According to the order of the Hon’ble Vigilance Special Judge on that day, he has been sent to judicial custody till 17.08.2024.
As the investigation of the corruption case continues and Mr Rath has been in judicial custody for more than 48 hours, the order of suspension of Mr Rath has been issued by the State Government.
On the other hand, till further orders, the office of Engineer In Chief (Civil), Bhubaneswar has been fixed as the headquarters of Mr Rath. The order states that during the suspension period, he cannot leave Sadar Mahkuma without the prior permission of the engineer-in-chief (Civil), Bhubaneswar.
It is worth mentioning here that now the state government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against corruption more strictly.
