Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today arrested Nuapada District Labour Officer on charges of demanding and accepting bribe for issuing labour card.
According to Vigilance, Sarat Kumar Panigrahi, District Labour Officer of Nuapada, had demanded Rs 40000 from one, Srinivas Behera, for issuing his a labour registration card. With no options left, Behera reported the matter to the Vigilance and a trap was laid.
Today, the accused officer was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers while accepting the money from the complainant.
“The bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused. A case has been registered In this connection and further investigation is underway,” said an official.
