Now, Aadhaar card may be needed for Air travel

New Delhi: After mandatory Aadhaar number for filing of Income Tax returns and compulsory linking it with Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, now the government is considering to introduce for Air travel.

As per sources, the government has asked IT major Wipro to develop a blueprint for Aadhaar based biometric access to flyers at all airports across India.

Following this, airports will “begin the process of a passenger’s thumb being all the identification he or she requires to fly, for domestic flights as international ones will need passports”, sources said.
