Noted Historian Debraj Pradhan Passes Away
Bhubaneswar: Historian Debaraj Pradhan, who discovered rare inscriptions written by Ashok and four inscriptions on Pushpagiri Mahavihar, at Langudi hill under Dharmashala block in Jajpur district, passed away on Friday. He was 70.
According to reports, he died at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Born in a farmer’s family at Rohini in Bargarh district, Debaraj completed his graduation from Sambalpur University and later studied archaeology in New Delhi and England.
He had also conducted archaeological survey at Bajragiri, Kaima, and Radhanagar in the district.
Debaraj’s last rites were performed at Swargadwara in Puri, said sources.
