Mumbai: TV actor Tunisha Sharma was in contact with a man on a dating app and was with him between December 21 and 23, just before her death, lawyers of her co-star Sheezan Khan told the Vasai court on Monday.
Even before her alleged suicide, Tunisha was on a video call with the man for 15 minutes, claimed Shailendra Mishra and Sharad Rai, counsels for Khan. Seeking a probe into this angle, they said no suicide note was found. Claiming that Khan was innocent, they added that actor Suraj Pancholi too had gotten bail after being accused of abetment of suicide of actor-singer Jiah Khan, who died in 2013.
Appearing for the Sharmas family, advocate Tarun Sharma sought time to go through documents and prepare his defence, which was allowed by district and additional sessions judge R D Deshpande. The court adjourned the hearing on Khan’s bail plea till January 11. On December 24, Tunisha was found hanging in the washroom of Khan’s room in a Naigaon studio where their serial was being shot. Khan was arrested the next day on charges of abetting the suicide.
Earlier, Sheezan’s lawyer Shailendra Mishra exclusively spoke to ETimesTV reacting to Tunisha Sharma’s mother’s claims. He said, “Please understand that Sheezan was detained within the premises of Fever and Brain Hospital itself and has been in custody since 24.12.2022, let even this allegation of doping, drugs etc., be investigated, my client is already in custody. It is we who have mentioned in court, we will not object to reasonable Police remand, but let every allegation be levelled, be it before the Police as well as in Media, be investigated in a letter and spirit and the Police are investigating.”
He further added, “All these allegations levelled are studiedly false, baseless, manipulated and misleading ones and they (Tunisha’s side) who lied before the court stating we are in Chandigarh and High Court, are setting a narrative being in the public domain by visiting the studio to studio of all leading media channels, that too before bail hearing to cover up the lacunae as we have exposed them in our bail application and nothing more. They just want to sensationalise the whole matter to take undue advantage and that’s about it. Let them come before the court and we will respond befittingly.”
