Bhubaneswar: After dampening numerous occasions of festivities in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic will now play spoilsport on the New Year’s merrymaking as restrictions have been imposed on Zero Night celebrations on the night of December 31.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that Zero night celebration at hotels/clubs/ convention halls/Kalyan Mandap is prohibited. Besides, a large gathering for zero night celebration at any other place is also not allowed.
“The Govt of Odisha vide its Order No 6691/R&DM(DM) dated 30-11-2020 has explicitly prohibited large social gatherings to contain the spread of COVID-19. Keeping in view the approaching New Year zero night celebration clarifications/Advices are issued for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation,” said the BMC in an order.
The BMC has also requested people to celebrate New Year with their friends/ family and relatives at private houses/establishments with strict adherence of the COVID-19 norms
