Bhubaneswar: Five days after the ghastly murder of minister Naba Kishore Das by a police officer, Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly and senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra today gave up his personal security officers (PSO), citing that he has no trust in Odisha police department.
“I have no trust in Odisha police. Hence, I left the security provided to me by the government. I don’t want any security from the State police department,” Mishra said in his reaction.
He further alleged that maximum police officials in the state are involved in several criminal and illegal activities. So, the State police has lost its credibility.
Mishra once again questioned the motive behind shifting of Naba Das from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar for treatment even as he breathed his last on the spot. He said Naba had undergone an ECG test at Jharsuguda headquarters hospitals soon after he was shot in the chest. The ECG report should be made public. The airport authority should clarify the health condition of the slain minister when he was airlifted to Bhubaneswar, Mishra demanded.
The Opposition leader has been alleging that Das was shot dead on the spot. But his body was taken to Bhubaneswar and admitted to a private hospital where doctors conducted surgery on a dead man, which is a rare incident in the world, Mishra said.
The BJP leader alleged that Odisha government is trying to suppress the murder case. So, the probe responsibility should be handed over to the CBI, he demanded.
