No clear instruction for flight operation from Bhubaneswar airport: BPIA director

Bhubaneswar: The BPIA Director, VV Rao has said it was not clear if flight services will be resumed from Bbubaneswar airport from May 25 as announced by the government.

He said the civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri has announced that flight services in the country will begin on May 25. But, there was no clear instruction if the services will resume from Biju Patnaik International airport from here.

Rao said he has not received any communication from the Centre on the matter and therefore could not say if the flight services from BPIA will resume from that particular date. He said the operation of flights has been stopped over two months due to coronavirus lockdown.

The BPIA director said the Centre had earlier said that a decision will be taken on the matter after due deliberation with states. The discussion with the states on this score is actively being taken up in these days, he added.

Rao said the clear picture in this matter will emerge in a couple of days. He said the civil aviation ministry will come up with the guidelines relating to resumption of air services soon.
