Bhubaneswar: Public Enterprise Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra announced that Niramaya medicine stores across Odisha will now operate 24×7.
This decision aims to ensure that essential medicines are available to the public at all times, providing much-needed relief to patients and their families.
The announcement was made following an extensive review meeting of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL). Minister Mohapatra emphasized the importance of uninterrupted public service, particularly in the healthcare sector.
“All Niramaya centres across the state have been directed to operate round-the-clock to ensure that no patient is deprived of essential medicines,” he stated.
To ensure compliance with this directive, a monitoring squad has been formed. This squad will keep a vigilant eye on the Niramaya stores to verify that they remain open 24×7. Any violations will be met with necessary actions to maintain the integrity of the initiative.
During the review meeting, discussions were held on the regular supply of medicines to Niramaya stores and the availability of sufficient stock. The Minister also highlighted the allocation of a special corpus fund of Rs 200 crore by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to support the Odisha State Medical Corporation. This fund is intended to ensure that medicines are readily available and that Niramaya stores do not face shortages.
Additionally, steps are being taken to ensure that students in schools have easy access to sanitary napkins, further extending the reach of the state’s healthcare initiatives. The Minister’s directive underscores the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services across Odisha.
