Mumbai: Indian stocks erased all the opening gains to trade at day’s low. The S&P BSE Sensex fell as much as 0.56 percent to 41,708.94 and the NSE Nifty 50 fell as much as 0.61 percent to 12,277.20.
The 30-stock index had risen as much as 0.78 percent to hit a record high at 42,273.87 and the 50-share gauge had risen as much as 0.63 percent to hit an all-time high at 12,430.50.
NSE’s Nifty 50 was trading at 12,300 levels, down 48 points or 0.39 per cent. The index scaled a record peak of 12,430.50 in the opening deals.
Among individual stocks, Power Grid, Asian Paints and ITC were the top gainers on the 30-share Sensex pack while TCS, Reliance Industries (RIL), and Bajaj Auto were the biggest losers.
Second-rung stocks too were trading lower. The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading at 15,695 levels, down 14 points or 0.09 per cent while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was ruling at 14,707, down just 1 point or 0.01 per cent.
