New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained Baljeet Singh, an important accomplice of the designated Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu, also known as Landa.
The detention, which occurred on Thursday in Punjab, is a continuation of the investigation into a widespread terror network that includes the distribution of lethal weapons.
Baljeet Singh, also known as Rana Bhai or Balli, originates from the Badwani district in Madhya Pradesh. NIA officials state that he was instrumental as a principal weapons supplier to Landa’s operatives in Punjab. It is reported that these weapons were used in significant terror operations, including the extortion of businesspeople and other individuals.
The case, initiated by the NIA last year, has resulted in the apprehension of Gurpreet Singh Gopi, another associate connected to both Landa and the Khalistani terrorist Satnam Singh Satta. The investigation by the agency disclosed that Baljeet Singh had also provided weapons to Satta, contributing to a larger scheme by various prohibited Khalistani terrorist groups to disrupt India’s stability with violent actions in Punjab and beyond.
The NIA said that both Landa and Satta are suspected of orchestrating terrorism in India from Canada, and the agency is persisting in its investigation as part of its offensive against Khalistani terrorist organizations.
