Bhadrak: A pall of gloom descended on Sanpur village under Dhamnagar police limits in Bhadrak district this morning after news of the death of a newly married couple spread.
The couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison on Thursday night.
According to sources, the duo was rescued by neighbours at around 1 am last night and rushed to Dhamnagar hospital. Later, they were shifted to the district headquarters hospital after their condition deteriorated where the couple died while undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Dharmendra Tripathy of the village and his wife Purnima Dash, daughter of Nilamani Dash hailing from Banki area in Cuttack district.
They had tied the nuptial knot on May 9 this year. However, there were frequent quarrels between both the families over some issues. That might be the reason behind the extreme step the couple took, locals said.
Police have started investigation to find out the reason behind the suicide sending the bodies for post-mortem.
