Newborn girl stolen from MKCG hospital


Berhmapur: A newborn baby girl was allegedly stolen by an unknown woman from Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital (MKCG) in Berhampur of Ganjam district on Saturday.

The matter came to light after the family members of the newborn girl lodged a complaint with Baidyanathpur police station in this regard today morning.

According to sources, Jyoti, wife of Bhikari Naha of Narayanpur village under Kabisuryanagar block, delivered the baby girl last night. The woman’s mother was attending her at the hospital.

Today morning an unknown woman asked Jyoti’s mother that the newborn was supposed to be administered vaccine and asked her to collect the ticket. When the elderly woman went to bring the ticket, the accused woman fled with the baby girl.

When Jyoti’s mother returned to the ward after collecting ticket, she found the newborn was was missing. Later, they lodged a complaint with the police.

Meanwhile, the police visited the hospital and launched a probe into the matter.
