Bonai: A newborn body was recovered at a canal side at Jaladihi village under Lahunipada police limits in Sundergarh district on Tuesday.
The body was recovered in a semi-buried position. Hands were out while other body parts were buried. Passersby first noticed it and informed the local villagers.
On being informed, police with a scientific team rushed to the spot and seized the body. Police launched an investigation to find out the identity of the child.
Locals suspected that the child might have born to any unwed mother who had abandoned the infant fearing public humiliation.
