Sambalpur: A newborn baby boy was found dead in a drain near NSC Forest Park in Sambalpur district on Saturday.
Reportedly, the matter came to fore after some local spotted the body of the infant in the drain and alerted the same to the police.
Police reached the spot and recovered the body for the post-mortem.
While it is suspected that the baby would have died two-three days ago, preliminary report suggests that someone might have dumped the newborn following an illicit affair.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, said a police official.
