New currency notes worth Rs. 1.5 lakh looted
Bhubaneswar: Snatchers continue to openly challenge police as three bike-borne outlaws on Wednesday looted about Rs 1.25 lakh and a laptop from an employee of a private finance company in Patrapada area under Khandagiri police limits.
The victim identified to be Girija Sankar Panda was returning on his bike with the cash when the miscreants all wearing helmets intercepted him near Phuleswari slum and snatched the money.
One of the looters pulled out a gun and pointed the trigger on the victim’s forehead. The other two snatched his money bag but before he could raise an alarm, they fled from the spot, Panda told police complaining.
The stolen cash also included some wads of new Rs 2,000 notes. “I had collected the money from different shop owners who had availed loans from our firm,” he added.
Meanwhile, DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said investigation is going on.“We strongly suspect the involvement of some acquaintances of the persons from whom Panda collected the cash,” Bhoi said.
