New Covid Strain Scare: Odisha Issues Fresh Guidelines

Bhubaneswar: Taking precautionary measure to contain the spread of the new strain of COVID-19 virus, the Odisha Government has issued fresh guidelines for the people of the state.

In an advisory, the Health and Family Welfare department cautioned people to follow appropriate Covid behaviour to stay away from the new strain even as the situation has remained under control in Odisha. Daily positive cases in the State are hovering below one hundred, government sources said.

Symptoms:

  • Lack of appetite.
  • Headache and body pain.
  • Loose motion.
  • Emergence of skin disease and itching.
  • Sore throat and nasal congestion.
  • Chest pain and coughing.

The government has suggested people to take the vaccine shot when their turn comes. Even after taking the vaccine, continue to wear mask, wash hand frequently and maintain physical distance and avoid public gathering, it said.

Key Points Of The Guidelines:

  • Strict adherence to basic COVID-19 protocols– washing hands, wearing masks, and maintaining social distance.
  • Receive COVID-19 vaccine as per the government protocol.
  • Stay away from crowded places.
  • Those returning to Odisha from other states should undergo home isolation for seven days.
  • Those developing COVID-19 symptoms should undergo test.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also appealed to people to follow the Covid guidelines and achieve the ‘zero infection’ target.
