Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has taken measures to protect its citizens from the new strain of coronaviurs that is currently plaguing the UK.
The health department has asked the airport authorities in Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Jharsuguda district administration to be on guard following new strain of the dreaded virus.
The department’s letter said passengers with travel history of UK shall be required to fill up the self-declaration form. They will have to be quarantined at home for 14 days.
The RT-PCR test will be conducted if any such person is found symptomatic within the quarantine period, the health department’s letter added.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has already ordered for cancellation of all flights originating from the UK to India from 11.59 pm December 22 till 11.59 pm on December 31. Consequently, flights from India to the UK will also stand suspended during the period.
If the person is tested negative, he/she will be advised to complete the 14 days home quarantine period.
The notification further urged the officials to ensure strict adherence to the standard operating practice by Ministry of H&FW with a mandatory screening of the persons with travel history to the UK.
